Natasha's Death (Rewritten)

It was the dreariest day of the year; there was non-stop rain and the sky was dark all day long. The whole day I felt a little off, something didn’t seem right.

I was doing my shift at the grocery store. It felt like it torture; all of this sweeping was gradually draining the life out of me.. All of the sudden Natasha burst through the doors; she was heaving and panting with sweat dripping from her brow.

“Starr, the fire hydrant just exploded across the street, you gotta come see this!” Said Natasha.

“Are you serious? I’ll be right there.” I replied.

It was very rare that anything actually exciting happened in our town; I jumped at every potential opportunity. I immediately dropped my broom and ran out the door to go see what had happened.

“Wow, it’s a free water park in the middle of our city!” I shouted.

All of the kids in our town were gathering around the hydrant, playing in the water that splashed down. Natasha was right in the middle of them, it looked like the happiest she had ever been. Kids in this town very rarely got to have fun; the government has put very little money into our education and has given us very few opportunities to actually do what we want. Instead our town is full of drugs and gang violence.

“Come on Starr, come play.” Shouted Natasha.

Right as I was about to run over to play, a car with fully blacked out windows pulled out in front of the fire hydrant. A fully tattooed arm reached out of the window with a glock in hand.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Her body lay on the ground. Motionless.
