Whether you’re a Formula 1 fan or not, the Montreal Grand Prix is a thrilling event to attend. The pungent smell of 95 octane and the loud roar of the car’s engines is a one-of- a-kind experience you won’t find anywhere else. The futuristic cars can reach blistering speeds of up to 360 km/h, over 3 and a half times normal highway speed. That’s crazy fast! The track is full of tight hairpins and fast corners which allow the lightweight engineering marvels and their drivers to show what they’re made of.

About the Montreal Grand Prix

The Montreal Grand Prix has been part of the F1 calendar since the sport’s early days in 1967. The 4km long circuit has seen the cars of many famous drivers: Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and Niki Lauda. (F1 Fandom) By 2005 it became one of the most watched races with millions of fans watching from around the world; hundreds of thousands watching deep in the heart of Montreal.

What’s the culture like?

Montreal has always been known for its rich culture in many aspects, the Montreal Grand Prix is no exception.

Montreal is a prime location for the Formula 1 race, as the entire city gets into the spirit and parties all weekend long and the fans are very enthusiastic about this racing event. It is one of the few places where such a great festive spirit takes over for the entire duration of the event. During the weekend, Peel and Crescent Streets are closed down for the celebrations. You can expect the streets to be packed with people like New York City at rush hour. Bright red, orange, and yellow smoke bombs will take over the streets and grandstands as fans show their support towards teams and drivers.

What else can you experience in Montreal?

While you’re in Montreal you have to try their world-famous poutine. The thick brown gravy and delicious white cheese curds melted over the crispy French fries are a taste that can only be found there. Delicious! You can take a trip through Old Montreal. The streets are crowded with buildings which date back centuries, showing off their unique French-Canadian architecture and culture. You can also pay a visit to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Here you can find meticulously crafted bronze sculptures and bright colourful paintings. (Nomadasaurus)

The next Montreal Grand Prix will find itself on the weekend of June 16th in 2023. If you want to see some serious speed and intense action, the race should definitely go on your bucket list. I hope to see you there!
